Tom Najjar Obituary
Tom Najjar, a long-time community leader in Bay County, passed peacefully at the Blake Retirement Home on January 6th, 2025, following a brief illness. He was 79.
Tom dedicated his life to others. He served his country honorably in the Vietnam War, and when he returned home, he dedicated his time and efforts to community service, most notably with the Panama City Jaycees. He served as President of the organization, winning the award as the best chapter in the nation, and then went on to serve as President of the Florida Jaycees. Through this work, he helped countless people in need, especially children, and he is fondly remembered for his many portrayals of Santa Claus.
Tom worked for WMBB, becoming sales manager in 1985. He also co-anchored the station’s midday news program. In addition to his work at the station, he owned several media and marketing companies through the years before eventually retiring, though he remained active serving his community. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Florida State University, and for many years he organized bus trips to Tallahassee to see the ‘Noles play.
He loved his dogs, his many friends, and his community, and he was especially thankful to his neighbors, Jeff and April Johnstone, for their caring friendship.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, George and Hilda. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeaneane, and three brothers, George, Michael, and Peter, and countless friends. Tom was involved in so many non-profit organizations, it is impossible to choose just one, so the family asks that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation in his name to the charitable organization that most touches your heart.
